Charcuterie Boards

The client approached me with the need for “something sophisticated but also personalized” to be used as Christmas gifts for about 75 of her corporate clients.

We discussed a number of options and settled on charcuterie boards with personalized monograms.

To distinguish these boards from cheaper mass produced cutting boards I made them out of 1” thick Black Cherry, with dovetailed cross legs made from walnut or oak.

This traditional dovetail connection allows the boards to expand and contract slightly in width with the seasons without the risk of splitting.

The client asked for monograms of the recipients’ last name to be engraved. Filling the carved letters with black epoxy really made them pop!

This photo shows some test cuts to find the best style and size for the letters.

Finish is a mixture of pure tung oil and citrus oil which is food safe and approved for use on cutting boards and wooden utensils.

Finished charcuterie size was about 10” x 15” and 1” thick.
